Claire Moore
Claire worked in cabaret with her jazz-pianist father before studying opera at the Royal Northern College of Music. After graduating, she moved to London and made the West End and its theatre her second home!
West End credits include: Audrey in Little Shop of Horrors (Comedy Theatre); Christine in The Phantom of the Opera (Her Majesty’s Theatre); Ellen in Miss Saigon (Theatre Royal, Drury Lane); Fantine in Les Misérables (Palace Theatre); Nancy in Oliver! (Palladium); and Nora in The Betrayal of Nora Blake (Jermyn Street Theatre). At the National Theatre she appeared in The Duchess of Malfi, The Real Inspector Hound, The Critic, and as Anya in The Cherry Orchard.
Other theatre credits include: Talent, Wythenshawe Forum; Jesus Christ Superstar, York Theatre Royal; Born Again, Chichester Festival Theatre; Putting It Together, Old Fire Station, Oxford; The Card, Watermill, Newbury; Evita, Rock Szinhaz, Budapest; and the role of Mimi in La Bohème, Shanklin Theatre, Isle of Wight. Amongst her recordings are various works of Andrew Lloyd Webber, including the album to mark the 20th anniversary of Jesus Christ Superstar; An Evening With Alan Jay Lerner; Don Black’s Off the Wall; the original cast album of Miss Saigon, and for the new BBC Celebration series, Celebrating Sondheim; Celebrating…A Tribute to Jule Styne; Celebrating…Jerry Herman; Celebrating…Andrew Lloyd Webber; and being accompanied by the composer himself. Her most recent recording is The Best of West End and Broadway with the City Concert Orchestra.
On the radio Claire has been heard many times, most notably in Songs From the Shows, and the acclaimed series of American Musicals for Radio 2; as Sarah Brown in Guys and Dolls, Marion Paroo in The Music Man, Agnes Gooch in Mame, and Maggie in A Chorus Line. She is a regular guest on Friday Night Is Music Night.
An established concert artist both in the UK and abroad, Claire has had the privilege of singing with many of the world’s leading orchestras. She has a varied repertoire from classical to contemporary, including her own material, and in March this year her song ‘Song of Dreams’ was recorded by Becky Taylor for EMI Classics.
Having taken a break from theatre to concentrate on being Mum to her two small children, Claire recently made a welcome return to the stage as Anna Leonowens in The King and I at the London Palladium. |
